Aeon open day 2007

Aeon open day 2007

Written by Jason Tribbeck
29th December 2007 was Aeon's open day - there wasn't one last year due to the changes going on at Aeon, and the one in 2005 was unfortunately cancelled due to the weather turning really bad a couple of days beforehand. So this was essentially the first.
When I arrived, there were two other completed Aeons present - Scott's GT3R and Mike's GT2.
During the day, there was a selection of other cars - GT40 replica, a couple of Fisher Furys, an LSIS and a couple of other cars around the rolling road that is now at their workshop (my camera was running out of batteries, so I was being a bit conservative in its use until the end). It was a nice surprise to see Anthony Bigg's GT3 arrive. I had last seen it when it was owned by Stephen Crisp, at the Stoneleigh kit car show - where Mike was also present. We even took a picture of the two cars together.
Adam Wilkins (Complete Kit Car) also turned up for the first part of the day - it's a pity he didn't stay for the group photo (I'll send some pictures to him).
New toys
Another thing that was on display was a new gull-wing door that Aeon have been working on, which features an electric window as well - very swish!
It needs a small amount of work to complete (it will be difficult to retro-fit to my Aeon without building a good removeable hardtop, but could be doable).
And also, the new range of LED lamps were being shown (but I forgot to take a picture of that - sorry, Mike!)
Group photo
With four Aeons present, we really had to take a picture with all of them in it, so we drove (pushed, in the case of Scott's) them outside a unit that is next door to Aeon, and took a lot of pictures. Here is my collection (Mike and Anthony also took a lot):

In summary
I'd like to thank Sue for the coffee, biccies and chocolates, Keith for organising it, and everyone who turned up (even those who were being dragged along!).
There was a fair turnout - the weather was very good considering the forecasts. It would really be nice to have more of these, and also a larger show presence this year.
